I'm Jihad Attasi, Dr. Khalil Hijazi's patient. Two years ago, I had surgery to replace the lens in both eyes. After the surgery, I felt much more comfortable. I don't wear glasses and I'm glad to meet Dr. Khalil, who helped me. Thank you.

You explained that my condition is't severe and can be effectively treated with medication, and even if I choose laser surgery, it wouldn't be as expensive as initially thought. Most importantly, your kindness and approachability are greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Frequently asked questions
How is laser vision correction going?
The initial and most critical phase of laser vision correction is the diagnostic process. Doctor conducts a comprehensive analysis of essential eye data, including corneal thickness, intraocular pressure, and the condition of the retina. It's also important to gather information about any other underlying medical conditions the patient may have. Subsequently, during the examination, the patient's visual capabilities are assessed with and without glasses, both before and after pupil dilation, to determine the appropriate surgical approach. The surgery itself is brief and lasts approximately 5-7 minutes. The procedure is conducted under local anesthesia, without pain, blood, or the need for stitches. After the surgery, the patient may experience slight discomfort in the eye for 2-3 hours, which is offset by the immediate improvement in vision. For the first three days, it's important to avoid getting the eyes wet, and for about 2 weeks physical exertion and specific medications, as prescribed, should be avoided. Full 100% vision is typically achieved about 3 weeks after the surgery.
Can I get rid of my glasses after surgery?
Certainly, you can. Cataract surgery involves the replacement of the eye's lens. In this procedure, the primary responsibility of the doctor is to perform a comprehensive examination of the patient's eyes. Moreover, the doctor should also provide the patient with information about Smart Lenses, elucidating why they are the most intelligent option for such surgeries. Smart Lenses feature built-in diopters tailored to meet the patient's individual visual requirements, providing the potential for permanent freedom from eyeglasses.
Can it happen again after the surgery?
The likelihood of the condition recurring remains significant even following a successful surgery. Prior to the operation, the doctor collaborates with the patient to establish a post-operative monitoring schedule, typically spanning 3 to 6 months. Children are more prone to experiencing symptoms post-surgery, with strabismus often manifesting itself within 1 to 5 years. Approximately 60-70% of children require a follow-up operation, while  among adults the percentage is lower.
What is the most appropriate treatment for keratoconus?
The choice of treatment is  determined by the level of corneal damage. Conventional therapy typically involves crosslinking and corneal fixation, accompanied by the use of rigid lenses, which can be uncomfortable for the patient. However, in our approach, after corneal fixation, we fit American soft contact lenses for a month, providing a more comfortable experience for the patient and allowing them to enjoy the beauty of the world around them. This approach is well-suited for addressing keratoconus during its initial to moderate stages. In more advanced stages, a corneal transplant becomes a crucial necessity.
Can I have an eye transplant?
At present, full eye transplants do not exist in medicine. Instead, there are procedures for transplanting specific eye structurses, such as the lens, cornea, upper and lower eyelids, tear ducts, etc. It's crucial to emphasize that the  optic nerve cells cannot be transplanted. If a person has lost an eye, a doctor might suggest an artificial eye placement. Although it cannot restore vision, it can calm and comfort a patient.
